Jean-Francois Filion
Notre-Dame-de-Grâce–Westmount
Jean-Francois Filion
Jean-Francois has been teaching English for over 20 years. He advocates passionately to ensure that his students and all young people have access to quality education and affordable housing. Jean-Francois' work goes beyond the classroom — and inspires him to take up the fight against social injustices, like the many financial and educational barriers his students face.
Jean-Francois moved to Montreal in 1987 to study music. He earned his bachelor's degrees from Concordia in Translation and English as a Second Language (ESL). Living in NDG-Westmount and teaching hundreds of students there, he can’t imagine a better place to call home.
Jean-Francois has seen first-hand the struggles that everyday people face trying to access education and live a good life. That’s why he advocates passionately for more housing co-ops in urban areas, building bridges with Indigenous Nations, and action on the climate crisis.
Jean-Francois understands that Ottawa needs to work for you, not the ultra-rich. He’s ready to fight hard to ensure that everyone has a safe and affordable place to call home. He knows that we must tackle the climate crisis like we actually want to win by investing in public transit, home retrofits, clean technology and support for good, sustainable jobs.
Ottawa can work better for our community — and Jean-Francois is ready to stand up for you as your Member of Parliament in NDG-Westmount.
